Is your chiropractor doing functional rehab with you? If not, they're leaving a lot of healing on the table.
At Bergner Chiropractic, we do functional rehabilitation with every single one of our patients. This can include anything from postural correction to improving hip mobility to learning how to properly squat.
Movement-based care is at the core of what we do and so we have to get your body doing just that...moving!
When we do our joint-by-joint analysis, we will typically find areas that need mobility and areas that need stability. We will then create an exercise regimen that will progress throughout the treatment plan as you master them. Some of the primary influences on how we do funtional rehab are:
- Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) - This is a method used by Dr. Bergner to help people move better and feel less pain. It focuses on how babies naturally learn to move and uses those same techniques to help adults. By doing special exercises, DNS helps the body use the right muscles at the right time, making movements smoother and stronger. It reconnects brain to body, re-teaching how to move correctly to keep our bodies healthy and strong. Celebrities such as Novak Djokovic and Peter Attia have touted the benefits of this powerful method.
- McKenzie Method of Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) - This is a a technique used to treat back and neck pain by identifying movements that influence pain. It involves a series of specific exercises to determine which movements decrease or increase pain. By following these exercises, patients can reduce their pain and improve their mobility. The method helps patients learn how to manage and prevent their pain through proper movement patterns and posture correction.
These two methods are extremely powerful for improving movement patterns and restoring lasting function. Being able to move better is what KEEPS you better after we get you feeling better in the first place.
